About us
Gordon Bow Plant Hire Ltd is a family-managed plant hire company based in Broxburn, West Lothian. Established in 1982 by Gordon Bow, the business has grown steadily to become one of Scotland’s largest privately owned suppliers of operated and self-drive construction plant and equipment. 
From our depot in East Mains Industrial Estate, we supply plant hire across Central Scotland including Edinburgh, West Lothian, East Lothian, the Borders, Glasgow and Fife. Our central location allows us to deliver equipment quickly and efficiently to construction sites of all sizes.

A modern fleet of construction plant
We operate a large and continually updated fleet of plant equipment from leading manufacturers including JCB, Manitou, Komatsu, Case, Thwaites, Volvo and Bomag. Our range includes excavators, telehandlers, dumpers, rollers, backhoe loaders, boom lifts and a wide selection of attachments to support different construction and groundworks projects. 
With over 500 pieces of equipment available, we are able to supply equipment for projects ranging from small building sites to large civil engineering works.
Operated and self-drive plant hire
Our equipment can be hired either on a self-drive basis or with experienced operators. Our operators are fully trained and hold the relevant Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) cards, demonstrating recognised industry skills and safety standards.
We work with a wide range of clients including construction companies, civil engineering contractors, groundworkers and infrastructure projects throughout Scotland.
Delivery, logistics and plant transport
Our dedicated logistics team operates a fleet of low loaders and HIAB lorries, allowing us to deliver and collect plant efficiently across Scotland. We can also transport customer-owned machinery between sites using our specialist plant transport vehicles.
Our Broxburn depot provides easy access to major transport routes including the M8 and the Forth Road Bridge, helping us respond quickly to hire requests across the region.
Service, maintenance and support
All plant equipment is maintained in our own workshops and supported by mobile service engineers who can respond quickly to minimise downtime if issues arise on site. Our aim is to keep projects running smoothly with reliable, well-maintained equipment.
Health, safety and compliance are central to our operations. Our machines are fitted with modern safety features and our staff receive regular training to ensure the highest standards of safe working practices.
